History of Acmeism; poetry of the Silver Age; the works of A. Akhmatova, N. Gumilev, O. Mandelstam, A. Blok, I. Annensky, as well as A. Pushkin, V. Nabokov, I. Brodsky.

  • Member of the editorial board of and a contributor to the biographical dictionary “Russian Writers. 1800–1917”

  • Member of the editorial board of the journals Novoe literaturnoe obozrenie and Literaturnyi fakt.

  • Member of the editorial board of the “Literary Heritage”(1988–1991)

Awards and distinctions:

  • Awarded the Andrei Bely Prize (2006)

Teaching Activity:

  • Professor of Slavic Studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. As a visiting professor, also lectured at the University of California.
